The canal through the centre of the town retains its traditional towpath, although the route has now changed a little due to redevelopment of canalside property to residential rather than commercial use.
In the middle of the bus station there is a meeting of statues.

Between Almelo and Enschede is the town of Hengelo. A town most notable for its production of olympic class swimmers and being mentioned in a Tragically Hip song.
